The wait is almost over!

What a day!

We've got some exciting news today and if all goes as planned, we might leave sooner than we thought!  So, being a very organized dog, i started my to-do list once on the road.  Wanna hear about it?  Of course you do!

Here are some of the things i plan on doing for the next year.

  1. visit as many furry friends and their parents as i can.  I met a lot of pals on Twitter and one of my goal is to meet them all!
  2. spend a day at Drake University with @DUPorterHouse the mascot and watch a game with him.
  3. have my picture taken in front of famous places around the States and Canada.
  4. write a book.
  5. eat a huge steak in Texas.
  6. visit shelters and talk about their great work here on my blog.
  7. become an ambassador for all the rotties in the world.

Do you have any suggestions for me?  Any idea on what i should do or see?

I'll be back later with the story behind the great news...

Black and white Sunday

I was looking at some old pics with mum and look what i found!

Yep, that's me!

A real sweetie!  I was about 3 months old...

Have a great week! See you soon!

Earth Day

Earth Day.  It didn't mean much to me before i started going on the road with my parents.  Then it kind of dawned on me that Earth is all we have...  It's our home, what feeds us, what supports us, what gives us beautiful sunrises, sunsets, montains, canyons, prairies, ...  It comforts us, it gives us room to breathe, it fills our soul.

Earth may be strong, as powerful as those waves on this picture taken in Maine, but it needs us too.

Take the time today to be thankful for such a beautiful planet and to think about how you can help to keep it strong and beautiful...

Happy Earth Day!

Snow Goose in my back yard!

Spring is really here my friends!

For the first time in years, i saw a gigantic flock of Snow Goose - or Blue Goose - in my back yard!  The are migrating from the north and stopped by this morning right in the field!  I was so excited to see them!

Or course, mum took her camera and went on a goose hunt to capture their beauty.  So here are a few pics she took.  I wasn't allowed to go in the field, since my presence would have scared the birds away.

Seeing the wild Snow Goose really is a sign that spring is finally here!

Enjoy!

It's a sad day people...

It's a sad day people and i don't feel like playing...

If i could, i would probably pray, but since i'm a dog, i don't know if i can, i never tried.  I don't even know what religion is.  But i do know a thing or two about human nature.  And today, i'm very disappointed by human nature.

Some humans failed us all, again. They commited an heinous crime, something so horrific it's beyond words.  I won't blame it on religion or beliefs, since it would just be using words to describe something i know nothing about and that can't be explain.

So i will blame it on human nature.  Which is way more scary than beliefs because it's unpredictable.  Human nature makes people snap and do things we can't begin to comprehend, even if we try very hard to.  Human nature will make people do things that will shatter our lives with just one little push on a button.

The worst thing about human nature is, like i said to a friend yesterday, that we are already forgetting and getting on with our lives.  One single human will put our lives on hold for 24 hours and then, we'll go back to work, play, sleep.  The only thing that will keep our curiosity for what happened alive is the sheer horror of it, the gruesome images of the event.  People feed on these while drinking their morning coffee, talk about them over plates of enchilladas and argue if they should be allowed to look at them or not.

What disturbs me the most is not the fact that people look at these images, but rather the fact that the photographers had no respect for the privacy of the victims.  Or what remained of it...  Do they really need to snap shot all these images to show the world?  Yes they do, because your human nature, people, asks to see the crude reality of it all.  You need to see to make sense of it all.

Well, all this didn't make sense 12 years ago and it doesn't make sense today, be it foreign or domestic. Violence is violence, wherever it comes from.  The impact on our lives is the same.  For a brief moment in time, we loose our freedom and we fear the unknown.  We come together as one because we realize that holding hands makes us stronger.  This is how we make a point.

Trying to make a point by killing innocent people is just showing how coward you are.

PRAY FOR BOSTON...

A sneak peek!

I'm really excited!

And i hope you'll be as excited because here is an official excerpt from my upcoming book! Isn't it cool?!

The book will feature short stories from my life as a small town dog, the people i've met over the years, the little mysteries going on with my neighbors, reflections on human nature and what makes life so interesting.  All that with a dog's point of view.

So, please enjoy this first glance into my world!

"Something very strange happened to me last night.

First of all, i must tell you that the Neurotic Freak - mum’s sister - paid us a visit during the day and i suspect her to have cast a spell on me.  The Lady is weird, really.  She eats grains and grass and if that was not crazy enough, she always travels with her guinea pig.  A punk named Peanut.  She says that he brings good vibes in her life.  I bet he does...

So the Neurotic Freak was chatting with my parents when, out of the blue, she started screaming like an old bat.  I thought that the punk furry rat might have pee on her lap or even better, bit a nipple.  No, she was just screaming her lungs out, gasping for air.  Mum finally calmed her down and the Neurotic Freak was able to explain - after emptying her glass of wine - that she felt something.

She felt something.  Duh...

I for myself could feel that dad was this close to kick her out of the house.

Without warning, she took Peanut, left him on the kitchen table and went for her card deck hidden in her purse.  As dad went to pick up the punk to put him on the floor, she promptly turned to him and shouted “don’t touch him! The Vibes! You’ll disturb the Vibes!”.  Oh Lord please help us..."
